Merger Lawsuit Pushes AT&T’s Yield Back Over 6%
AT&T (T) fell nearly 4% today on news the Justice Department has sued to block its T-Mobile merger, lifting the stock’s yield back over the 6% threshold.
Shares of T closed today’s session trading at 28.45 (-3.95%), where they feature a 6.05% dividend yield. The stock was paying 5.81% heading into the day.
The telecom giant was already the highest-yielding stock in the Dow Jones Industrial Average coming into the day. Today’s action widened its lead over Verizon (VZ), which closed the day paying 5.39% — second-best among the Dow 30. (You can track the yields of all 30 components in real-time here.)
