About The Dynamic Dividend
The Dynamic Dividend was officially launched in August 2010 to help income investors identify quality opportunities among dividend-paying stocks. I post pretty much anything related to the subject, including breaking news, opinions, statistical findings, links, tips, trends, and ideas.
You can get all of The Dynamic Dividend’s content delivered for free via four different subscription options.
Blog Post Categories
As a quick primer, here’s a rundown of the categories most of my posts fall under:
- Declarations: When a company declares an increased or decreased dividend, initiates its very first dividend, reinstates its dividend, or changes its dividend policy, I’ll let you know about it. And I’ll usually toss in a quick summary of its dividend history and a few related facts for good measure.
- Earnings: There’s a lot of information to digest when a company releases its quarterly results — some of it important, some of it worthless. Therefore, I try to summarize the important earnings releases of dividend-paying companies, stripping away the garbage and highlighting the important facts, such as: how the company performed relative to expectations, its outlook for the future, and anything related to its dividend policy. These articles are admittedly formulaic, and usually only posted when a company’s share price is significantly impacted.
- Ex-Dates: It’s important for income investors to be aware of the ex-dividend dates for stocks they’re considering buying/selling. So I maintain a list of stocks that trade ex-dividend each and every day. I publish each list to the TDD homepage one week ahead of the ex-dividend date, making sure to go back and edit the posts if new dividends are declared.
- Links: Links to interesting content posted elsewhere, including dividend stock evaluations.
- Lists: I maintain a few running lists on this site, and come up with new ones every now and again. Those updates will fall under this category, with a few exceptions. (See below.)
- Value Rankings: Since it is by far the most popular (non-homepage) content on this site, weekly updates to my Dividend Stock Value Rankings get their own category.
- Movers: (Formerly “Winners and Losers.”) At the end of each day/week/month/quarter/year, I put together a quick table featuring the dividend-paying stocks that made the biggest moves (both up and down) during that specific period.
- Yield Alerts: Many income investors will only buy stocks that feature a dividend yield above a nice round threshold (2%, 3%, etc.), or above certain parameters with historic significance (the stock’s five-year average, the industry average, an all-time high, etc.). I track hundreds of dividend-paying stocks, so when I see one cross an important yield milestone, I try to update my readers.
Other Interesting Things
These pages aren’t blog posts, but they are on the site.
- Dividend Stock Value Rankings: Updated on the first trading day of each month, this is my list of what I deem to be the most attractively-priced dividend stocks at the time. Value investing principles are a main component of my ranking system, so a company can move up or down without making headlines or its fundamentals changing — if the stock begins trading in an undervalued/overvalued range, it will move up/down/on/off my rankings accordingly. This is by no means a “buy” or “recommended” list, but it is my attempt to give income investors some quality stocks to investigate.
- Dividend Dynamos: Through my extensive research into dividend-paying stocks, I’ve identified more than 200 companies that have raised their annual dividend output each of the last ten years. I call them Dividend Dynamos, and I keep a regularly-updated version of the list on this site.
- Glossary: If you ever have no idea what the hell I’m talking about, I probably have you covered here — or will soon, as this area of the site is in its infancy.
